MOROCCAN DOORS #2

FANCY DOORS:
This was the door to our room in out fancy riad in Marrakesh.

....this door is in the Hassan 11 Mosque,

...this is a detail of a door in an old palace in Fes- the lattice allows for the Muslim women inhabitants to look out at the world without being seen.

SIMPLE DOORS:
...note the pieces of bread jammed in the torn section of shutter - this is a symbolic offering to the poor - we were told no one in an Arab country should starve as it is customary for restaurants etc to give left over food to the poor at the end of the trading day. I didn't see or smell any rotting food in my time in Morocco.
